Case Study; Mobile Car Wash at the Mall Many mobile car wash entrepreneurs assume that if they can get a car wash concession at the Regional Mall that they will be set for life. Yet, we see from history that this is not always true. For instance there are local politics concerned and someone who has a car wash or many car washes in a large city sitting on 3 million dollar pieces of property has a large payment each month and a Return on Investment to uphold and they will not like the competition in their 8-10 mile radius. Many car wash owners will enlist the government local agencies to attack the mobile car wash at the mall and the International Car Wash Association has members who have done this time and time again. There were some problems in Houston TX, Galleria Mall, due to the waste wash water run-off and politics of the Car Wash Owners, namely Bubbles and also I suppose the Mister Car Wash Group too since they straddle the Mall on either side with Car Washes on Westheimer Blvd. The Brazil Cart Washing Units, which were used, were said to be somewhat problematic and messy and some people had an issue with it. Personally I thought the idea made sense until I discovered the quality of labor that they ended up using there. The City Code enforcement thru them out due to the NPDES Permits for storm water discharge, which was a joke because it really did not affect the environment. After all there is more oil and grease that leaks from cars than waster water using 2.2 gallons of water in a steam wash type system. Nevertheless we know from experience whether you are in Dubai, Paris, Toronto, Washington DC or Shanghai; car wash has politics. Consider all this in 2006. Consider this in 2006.
